Joyn-ed Up RCS Apps from WIT Software at MWC 2013; Showcasing the latest version of RCS Apps with support for joyn Hot Fixes and RCS5.1 features
(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Lisbon, Portugal -- WIT Software, a leading provider of downloadable RCS Applications, will be showcasing the latest joyn apps on Stand No: 6G80 in Hall 6, during the 2013 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. This latest version is fully accredited by GSMA for joyn Hot Fixes and includes some of the key features of the upcoming joyn Blackbird specification. WIT will also be unveiling its next generation RCS apps, including a new skinnable user interface, support for a number of RCS5.1 features, tablet-specific versions, a PC softphone, and new Web versions, as well as demonstrating how Push Notification can improve the joyn user experience and be competitive with OTT apps.
WIT Softwares CEO Luis Silva explains: WIT has been involved with joyn from the very first launches, with both Telefonica and Orange in Spain using our GSMA-approved downloadable apps.
We have been working intensively with the GSMA and G5 operators to realise significant improvements and optimisation of the joyn app, and our field track record has given us a clear vision of how the joyn service definition needs to progress. With the close support of our partners, we will remain at the forefront of this evolution, providing downloadable apps for the Mobile Operators to support their service launches and their path towards RCS.
The latest commercial version of RCS Apps is designated by the GSMA as RCSe Hot Fixes. The result of a major collaborative effort, it lays a strong foundation for adding incremental RCS features, according to the GSMAs evolutionary path for joyn. This will ensure the fastest possible time-to-market for all operators, while maintaining cross-operator interoperability.
The worlds first joyn service was launched across Spain during 2012, involving all the major mobile operators, and with the WIT RCS App deployed by both Telefonica and Orange. The WIT Android app recently emerged from the GSMAs Meta2 Test Fest with a 100% quality rating, having undergone significant testing on all networks in Spain, including interoperability testing with native joyn apps embedded on OEM devices. WITs joyn-accredited Android app is currently available in the Google Play app store on over fifty devices, for Telefonica and Orange subscribers to download and use in their home networks.
