Mobile blackout a bane for lawyers
Feb 07, 2013 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) --
Gilbert + Tobin partner Michael Williams believes that people should be banned from using their telephones or tablet computers to report live from a courtroom. The iiNet case, in which he appeared as a witness in 2009, made him realise that live tweeting puts people under pressure to report as quickly as possible and without paying sufficient attention to accuracy. In New South Wales, a proposal is being considered to stop lawyers from using their telephones, tablets and laptops to communicate with people outside the court.
