Thomson Reuters Moving Legal Products to the Cloud
Jan 29, 2013 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) --
Thomson Reuters today announced the launch of Hosted Practice Technology -- a comprehensive cloud-based suite of solutions that provides access to the most complete suite of litigation products on the market. Hosted Practice Technology includes case analysis and document review capabilities through the most current versions of the market-leading Case Notebook TM and Case Logistix ® solutions.
Hosted Practice Technology is among the first cloud-based workflow solutions created as part of a new vision recently announced by Mike Suchsland, president of the Legal business of Thomson Reuters: "We will give our customers a smarter way to work by providing unrivaled legal solutions that integrate content, expertise and technologies," he said. "As part of this, we will evolve from a content business to a true solutions organization, integrating our core legal information with software and solutions in a way that has a positive, and productive, effect on our customers' workflow."
Hosted Practice Technology improves the ability of the firm to manage cases, technology and its business. Case Notebook, for instance, has case analysis software that streamlines collaboration on cases and lets users share key facts, insights, notes, documents, main characters, evidence, legal research, and more. Case Logistix is a scalable document review, analysis and production software platform that provides a quick, simple, accurate way to review electronically stored information.
"Hosted Practice Technology and its innovative use of cloud computing enables customers to have greater control over their cases, costs and technology -- all at the same time," said Kristin Nimsger, general manager, Litigation Solutions. "It provides the comprehensive tools that litigators need to effectively manage their cases, but with streamlined access. This can help organizations scale operations, improve efficiency and manage costs. Hosted Practice Technology improves access and security, and frees up firm resources for other uses."
Hosted Practice Technology provides the identical access to Case Notebook and Case Logistix as users that locally host the solutions, only now it's accessed via a secure Internet connection. It eliminates the need for firms and other organizations to manage, maintain or upgrade their own technology infrastructure in order to access these tools. Users maintain full control of their documents in a highly secure environment, including the ability to create cases, load documents, review and analyze materials, set security, and produce documents. Users create, open, modify and save documents using the same familiar interface and commands that they always have.
The solution greatly expands the flexibility with which cases can be managed. Hosted Practice Technology can be used with full functionality from anywhere that a user can access the Internet -- via desktop, laptop or tablet. It provides instant, on-demand capacity that can adapt to any need. Available storage is virtually unlimited, and can easily scale to accommodate multi-terabyte cases.
