Intercity Telecom cuts through costly phone lines with new SIP Trunks service
Jan 18, 2013 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) --
Business telecommunications specialist, Intercity Telecom, has launched a new service to cut ongoing telephone costs by replacing expensive analogue and digital lines with a data connection for telephone calls.
The new Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Trunks product from Intercity Telecom can reduce a business ISDN rental costs by more than 50 per cent by cutting out the expensive connection to the national telephone network.
Businesses using SIP Trunks make further savings with low-cost call rates.
As well as helping to make big savings, the benefits for business include easily adding new direct dial-in numbers and using different regional dial codes, giving businesses a presence in areas where they do not have offices or staff. This is also useful for businesses changing location that want to keep the same regional number.
Dave Reynolds, Product Manager at Intercity Telecom said: SIP-based telephony has previously been restricted to large multi-national companies.
However, its now the norm in many countries, and the UK infrastructure has matured to the point whereby most businesses can get the benefits.
For example, lets say your business is moving locations. Using a traditional phone system youd lose your phone numbers, but with SIP Trunking you can keep your direct phone numbers wherever your business goes in the world. If your business is growing and you want to quickly add direct phone lines, relying on a traditional phone system could mean waiting weeks or even months to get the new numbers. With SIP Trunks, you get new lines or phone channels in a day or less.
Waseem Riaz, Intercity Telecoms Marketing Manager added: We launched the Intercity SIP Trunks product after listening to the needs of our customers and evaluating different technologies. The businesses we spoke to wanted a flexible, low-cost system that took advantage of the latest technology but was designed around their needs. SIP trunks does just that.
SIP Trunks are a type of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), which allow telephone calls to be made over the same internet connection used for data, emails and web browsing. Most businesses can benefit from the technology using their existing broadband connection and telephone systems. Older telephone systems can also be used when adapted with a gateway appliance.
