GraveStompers: Zombie Vs. Zombie, the video game app that experienced a
meteoric rise in popularity among smart phone users when it debuted 5
months ago, will relaunch as a "new and improved version of its former
self" and become available for $1.99 on Amazon's new handheld tablet,
Kindle Fire, starting Thursday, January 17, announced its creator
Matthew Newman.
The app is the latest in the current zombie craze, placing gamers in the
role of a zombie hero ho finds himself in the midst of a 3D world where
hordes of mutated undead creatures -- spawned by the game's maniacal
villain Dr. Cayhille -- have taken over. Armed with a chainsaw, users
fight their way through 80 levels that increase in difficulty as they
advance. This alternate world features settings ranging from quiet beach
towns to chaotic junkyards -- all swarming with the living dead. The
game starts off with players fighting off simple zombies, as it
progresses, the enemies grow in terms of strength and power to include
necrotic corpse demons and zombeasts.
New to the latest version of the game is the introduction of the killer
character Ghostface from "SCRE4M" ("Scream 4") that may be purchased for
$4.99 and can be enlisted to help players advance. Newman said that in
addition to Ghostface, GraveStompers has plans to continue incorporating
other characters from major horror film series. The app also offers
weapons upgrades like rocket launchers and Gatling guns.
"We were floored to have attracted 500,000 gamers when we originally
launched GraveStompers a few months ago. We reengineered that version
and improved it considerably, so we're looking forward to welcoming
those players back and attracting new ones," said Newman. "The fact that
it's available on Kindle Fire should help us reach a whole new audience."
