China Shipped 224mn Smartphones in 2012

China shipped 224 million smart terminals in 2012, becoming the biggest smartphone maker in the world, according to the 2012 annual meeting of China's Internet industry.
China had 420 million netizens surfing the internet via mobile phones by the end of 2012, taking up 74.5% of the total netizen number in the nation, according to the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC).
There were over 730,000 applications on iPhone, iPod, Touch and iPad platforms and nearly 150,000 applications on China Mobile's mobile market (MM)platform. Noticeably, the number of Weixin users exceeded 200 million in 2012, posing an intense impact on traditional voice and short message business.
It is reckoned that the scale of China's mobile Internet market will reach CNY 429.6 billion with over 800 million active users in 2015.
