BRIEF: Slater fund invests in Providence hospital technology firm

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Slater Technology Fund announced Tuesday that it has committed $250,000 as part of a $750,000 investment round in Care Thread, a Providence-based provider of secure mobile messaging and team-based collaboration solutions for hospitals.
Care Thread's co-founder and chief executive officer is Dr. Scott Guelich, who pursued his medical training at Dartmouth College and Brown University, where he also created clinical iPhone apps used by tens of thousands of physicians.
The Slater Fund is a state-backed economic development fund that invests in technology companies.
