Local Companies New Horizons and Ascendum Solutions Partner to Create New Jobs Program

Cincinnati, Ohio, Dec 11, 2012 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- Disabled veterans and displaced workers in the Cincinnati and Dayton area who are interested in training for a career in IT are invited to apply for a 3-week training program sponsored by New Horizons Computer Learning Centers.

New Horizons developed the program in conjunction with Ascendum Solutions, a global information technology solutions company, to help them in their quest for tier-1 helpdesk technicians. The program is meant to narrow the learning curve for new employees in the role.

"At a time when other industries are shedding jobs, the IT industry continues to offer career opportunities," said Amy Matney, director of career development at New Horizons. "Retooling skillsets to get people ready for these jobs is one thing, but getting them placed into a position is another. A turnkey, training-to-hire program like this is an amazing opportunity!" The two companies are working with local workforce agencies to find individuals who qualify for government-sponsored funding for employment training.

"This is a winning scenario for everyone involved," said Allen Middleton, VP of Sales for New Horizons of Cincinnati and Dayton. "Ascendum needs candidates, people need jobs, and we can give them the skills they need enter the workforce prepared!" Ascendum and New Horizons will host a recruiting event at Workforce One of Butler County, located at 4631 Dixie Highway, Fairfield, OH 45014, on Monday December 17, 2012 from 10 am -3pm. A second event will be held at New Horizons Computer Learning Center, 10653 Techwood Circle, Cincinnati, OH 45242, on December 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Anyone interested in attending the event should dress in professional attire and bring a copy of their resume.

Training begins on January 7th, and up to 20 students will be given the opportunity to participate. Candidates will be selected based on their aptitude as shown through an assessment and interviews with Ascendum.
