E-T-A and Victron Launch New Interface for PowerPlex
Nov 26, 2012 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) --
E-T-A and Victron announced a new Victron interface for E-T-A PowerPlex.
According to a release, with PowerPlex, users can control electrical equipment on a boat or special vehicle. Thanks to this new interface, it is now possible to control a Victron MultiPlus or Quattro inverter/battery charger and other Victron products with PowerPlex.
E-T-A is specialized in the design and development of circuit breakers for the protection of electrical equipment. They have also developed their own CAN-bus multiplexing system: PowerPlex. PowerPlex is an electrical distribution system with which equipment on-board boats and special vehicles is protected and can be operated. PowerPlex is an open system which can be configured on any PC/Laptop operating under Windows.
E-T-A's PowerPlex Touch PC display is a component of their PowerPlex CAN-bus system. Using this Touch PC, users can operate the equipment connected to the PowerPlex. The new interface allows control of the following Victron equipment:
-MultiPlus or Quattro inverter/battery charger
-Lithium-ion 24V 180Ah Battery system
-BMV battery monitor
-Lynx Shunt Canbus
The communication between E-T-A's PowerPlex and Victron equipment occurs via the NMEA 2000-network. This is an open CAN-bus network in which equipment from different manufacturers can communicate with each other.
The new interface for the PowerPlex Touch PC falls in line with Victron's open network philosophy: a perfect network in which all components can work together; independent of supplier.
