Cisco News - Cisco Rolling Out Line of Mobile Internet Service Innovations
By Oliver VanDervoort, Contributing Writer
There is very little doubt that mobile Internet is going to continue to grow. That is why Cisco (News - Alert) just announced that it is rolling out a broad range of solutions that will allow service providers to better monetize mobile connections.
These new technologies are specifically geared toward taking advantage of the connections people make using their mobile devices. These connections will be able to be networked connections that will then deliver new revenue generation solutions for the service providers.
When talking about mobile Internet and how to best use it, most companies are going to be looking at “data in motion.” This is a real time measurement of mobile and fixed connections between people making the connections and the devices they are using or attempting to access.
Cisco’s internal reports show that there will be more than 10 billion mobile devices on the market by 2017 and that 8.6 billion of those devices will be personal mobile devices like smartphones and tablets. In order to take advantage of this, Cisco is rolling out solutions like the Quantum (News - Alert) Policy Suite, Quantum Analytics Suite and the Network Abstraction Suite.
The Analytics Suite will provide businesses historical and real time predictive models that will allow those users to make policy decisions. The Policy Suite will allow users to scale and monetize any type of service through any connection they would like. The Network Abstraction Suite will work to provide a reliable real time abstraction layer for a network’s data collection. This will make it easier for users to aggregate data as well as orchestrate and augment the information that is available in the network decision processes.
