Cisco News - SBB-Telemach Group Selects Cisco Videoscape
By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor
Cisco (News - Alert) Videoscape allows service providers to combine content from pay TV, online and on-demand sources. They can then integrate content with social media, communications and mobility to create a "better than being there" video experience for consumers – everywhere, at scale.
With fewer devices needed for immersive experiences, Cisco Videoscape reinvents the TV experience and makes it less complex.
Recently, SBB-Telemach Group, the largest pay TV platform in southeast Europe offering television, Internet and telephony services, selected the Cisco Videoscape capable Personal DVB Set-Tops (PDS) Series and Cisco Integration Services to provide next-generation television services.
With this new product, SBB-Telemach Group can provide high-definition (HD) and Internet Protocol (IP) television services which consist of browser-based, intuitive user interfaces, video on demand (VOD) and new services like catch-up and time-shift TV.
Based on the Cisco Videoscape Distribution Suite (VDS), these advance services make use of the service provider’s existing infrastructure.
“Next-generation television services are a major focus as we look to build our growing subscriber base, both in Serbia and internationally,” commented Dragica Pilipovic Chaffey, CEO at Serbia Broadband. “When we were looking for a technology partner, Cisco’s track record of working with partners to successfully launch video services in multiple markets, combined with the company’s commitment to an open-standards software architecture, made it the obvious choice.”
The company also recently partnered with NDS to showcase next-generation video capabilities integrating the power of the network, cloud and client to assist service providers and content providers enhance time to market with new multiscreen video services. Together, Cisco and NDS (News - Alert) will continue transforming how operators can provide live and on-demand video experiences and services for consumers worldwide.
